I obtained my BS degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2003.  Prior to coming to Penn State, I worked in an earth surface processes lab for the USGS in Colorado as well as an environmental engineering and consulting firm in New York City.

Research:

My MS research project focuses on the relationship between topographic indices, soil physical properties and the spatial distribution of soil moisture within the Shale Hills Watershed.  My project has two main components:

1) utilizing high resolution digital elevation maps (DEM) derived from Light Detecting and Ranging (LiDAR) data along with an existing database consisting of soil moisture data collected at over to identify controls on soil moisture variability and how they evolve through time.
